| Built by Baldwin in 1910, the class was originally nicknamed Bull Mooser for the odd 3 dome appearance and external steam piping, but the Santa Fe shops eventually simplified and superheated the class ik the 1920' like #1497 here. That removed the extra steam dome and streamlined the external piping. They were very handy for branch-line local passenger service and lasted until the early 1950's. Original specs - class 1480, 73" drivers,#220 psi, 15x26" high pressure cylindevs, 25x26" low pressure cylinders, engine weight of 231,675 lb, tractive effort of 22,038 lb.
