Old 6th street spur
The spur line that comes off the sixth street trackage in Augusta GA is no longer used. I don't know how long it's been but this spur used to go Hamburg SC, the depot and something else up along the river. Hamburg was destroyed by the 1929 flood and is completely whipped out. In fact the only thing I heard was still standing was a creepy building beside the 5th street bridge. I believe this was originally a switch track to the Hamburg line which lead to a trussell that paralleled the one known as the sixth street trussell. The supports of the Hamburg trussell can still be seen poking out the river next to the fifth street bridge. After Hamburg this spur line was more than likely used to access the depot and possibly some business paralleling the river. Probably used by Central of Georgia. This spur line cuts across the eastbound lane of sixth street but dead ends because most of the trackage was taken up, except the part of the trackage that crosses the museum parking lot but that's totally for display. The switch and most of the tracks were removed recently I believe as 2006.
