MKT 26
Title:  MKT 26
Description:  DENISON TX January 1975 -- MKT DS-4-4-1000 26 awaits work at the engine facility. Baldwin built the 26 (c/n 72799) in September 1946 as MKT 1004. Sometime in n 1959-60 EMD replaced the Baldwin engine with a 567C engine. The unit was renumbered to 26 in 1960. Katy retired the 26 in 1986, sold it to Rail Link and it became Caddo Valley 126. Note the wood footboards. (Photo date approximate, roster information from http://baldwindiesels.railfan.net/mkt/index.html)

MKT DS-4-4-1000M 26
Title:  MKT DS-4-4-1000M 26
Description:  Missouri-Kansas-Texas Baldwin DS-4-4-1000M 26 at North Little Rock, Arkansas on September 13, 1988, Kodachrome by Chuck Zeiler. Number 26 was built by Baldwin in September 1946 (c/n 72799) as MKT 1004, repowered by EMD (with a 12-567C rated at 1,000 horsepower) between February 1959 and April 1960 (EMD Order 8547) and renumbered 26, retired in 1986 and eventually sold to Rail Link becoming Caddo Valley 126. Anyone know the purpose of the box behind the rear exhaust stack? One source states that there were air filters in the box.
