Here is page five of a five-page article by David P. Morgan entitled "Long Island: Which Plan D'ya Read?" It was published originally in the December 1952 issue of "Trains" magazine, page 30. Photo Caption: "Long Island's first road diesel unit, Fairbanks-Morse 2000-horsepower C-Liner No. 2001, stands inspection at Jamaica, N.Y., before making its maiden run to Montauk on No. 21, the 'Cannonball.'" The photographer is not identified. Engine #2001 is a FP-20SC built in June of 1950. |
