Nick Reynolds General Why are the tracks like this? 3/5/2007 9:38:41 PM
Rich Stasiak General This is an 'optional gauntlet track.' Its purpose is to allow passenger trains to run very close to a station platform, while allowing freight and MOW traffic to operate farther from the passenger platform. It allows higher and wider equipment to get more clearance through the station by "swinging wide." The old Lehigh Valley had one of these tracks in Roselle Park, NJ--is there some chance that this is the same place? 3/5/2007 10:11:19 PM
Rick Stotz General No chance...that is looking westbound towards Roselle Park. The gauntlet track at Roselle Park Station is still there. 3/5/2007 10:21:09 PM
