Chicago, South Shore & South Bend Logo
This catchy logo based on the favorite children's book was adopted while the South Shore Line was struggling to survive. The NICTD was founded in 1977 to aid the floundering line, and when it went bankrupt they began operating the passenger service, eventually going on to purchase it in 1989. it is now a very productive line and even expanding south into areas of Indiana.
