Named after a brave security guard killed trying to prevent 7 armed robbers from robbing a payroll at British Rail Engineering in 1973. Despite having been beaten savagely about the head, he continued to tackle the robbers finally being shot twice by a shotgun. All 7 robbers were subsequently arrested, tried and jailed. IN 1975, two years after the robbery, James Kennedy received the highest honour for civilian bravery, the George Cross posthumously. The locomotive was exported to Hub gary and currently carries the number
