| Standing near the Toronto Union Station is CN 4-8-2 #6031 with its interesting scoop smoke deflector on the top of the stack. Built by the Canadian Locomotive Company in October of 1925 (serial #1764, class U-1-b), this loco served for nearly 34 years before being retired and scrapped. Interesting that this is one of the last built but one of the earliest to be scrapped. Specs - 73" drivers, 210 psi boiler pressure, 26x30" cylinders, engine weight of 354,300 lb, tractive effort of 49,589 lb. |
