In this context, the photographer is facing toward two semaphore signals and the "Wye Switches" at New Portage Junction in Duncansville. Altoona is to the photographer's rear. From 1850 to 1854, this stretch of track was the PRR's mainline connecting Philadelphia and Pittsburgh via the Allegheny Portage Railroad. |
