Southern Pacific 0-6-0 842 was switching cars along the Mississippi River levee, at the north end (railroad east) of Algiers Yard. The locomotive had been built by Lima (6772) in March 1924 as the 156 and was renumbered second 842 in October 1953. It was sold to Standard Sand & Gravel Co. in January 1956 (10 months after this photo) and it still exists. It moved to the Casey Jones Museum in Vaughn, Mississippi in March 1984 and then to Terry, Mississippi in May 2005. (correct month, approximate day) |
