Here is the front cover of an 11-page cover article by Frederick Westing entitled "The Locomotive That Made Penn Station Possible." It was published originally on the October 1956 issue of "Trains" magazine. Cover Caption: "DD-1 at Turtle Creek. Courtesy of Pennsylvania Railroad." Shown here is PRR engine #3977, a DD-1 built in Juniata during July of 1910, rated at 1,580 horsepower, and retired in January of 1949. Supposedly, there is a two-unit DD-1 numbered "3977" on display at the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, DC.
