My second entry in the "Catch of the Year for 2018 - in January" category, is this pairing of sister GE AC4400CW's - dropping off cars on the rarely used Stevensville spur. This was once the CP mainline to Fort Erie and the USA border, but was closed off east of Stevensville years ago, when the Brookfield Wye connector track was installed, allowing CP trains to veer onto the CN main. Even the brakeman joked with me about this unusual sighting: I have crossed this track almost daily since I moved to the Niagara Region just over a year ago - and this is the first time I have ever seen a train movement on this spur - now used only for storage as necessary. |
