Erie station  Contributor's Pick!
The Erie station at Salamanca was one of their large stations, as the town was a division point between the Allegany and Mahoning Divisions. Later revisions abolished the Allegany Division, extending the Mahoning Division to Hornell, where it joined the Susquehanna Division at Cass St. Salamanca remained an important point, as the the Mahoning third and fourth subs met here. A yard and engine facility was maintained here until the end of the EL. Sadly, the station burned to the ground in a spectacular arson fire in 2014.
