Now known as D 22, the Mills Job handled interchange of mostly gas cars with the Owego & Harford. It was a holdover from early CR days to allow what was then the Tioga Central a connection to the rest of the rail world other than Conrail. When CP gave up its trackage rights on the Tier, NS took over the interchange. Today we have an STLH unit on the run, though usually this job got a pair of engines, sometimes both were D&H lightning stripe GP 38's. There were not many units so painted, but the Binghamton area had a bunch, so this was not an uncommon sight. |
