Father and son  Contributor's Pick!
A father gets a photo of the period freight run for the Southern Tier RRE railfan day. At the time, Im sure my thought was, "I wish this guy wasnt in my picture." Now I look at the man taking the photo, with his young son by his side, and its one of my favorites, a dad and his young boy having a day out together, some quality time shared. By now, that little boy must be pushing 30, and dad is probably a lot grayer-I know I am!! Hopefully, they both recall this otherwise gloomy day fondly. Its been said that there is a lack of interest by younger kids in railroads. A moment like this is how it starts.

Gary L General ...or the clone stamp in Photoshop removes the annoying distraction(s) 3/12/2015 5:08:25 PM
Alan Fricker General Disagree-leave the people-they show WHY the train runs. They also aren't blocking any view of the train. I like the composition of this. 1/16/2016 12:13:58 PM
Tom Beckett General I realize Gary L is kidding-we've all wished we had a .357 people filter at times-but I'm solidly with Alan on this one. As of this writing, I have close to 10,000 photos on RRPA. This one is probably my favorite. It's completely unposed-they did not know I was behind them. I probably did not see the "big picture" at the time. All these years later, now having grandchildren that age, the image of the little boy with his stuffed bunny watching the train with his dad is priceless. 1/17/2016 3:03:02 AM
Stephen Gose General Hey Tom, I very much doubt, a person like Gary L. Kidding. He is the type of person who is annoyed with all people. Otherwise he would not have even made the comment. Why is it annoying, to have a father and son in this pic? At least it's not a massive photo line of foamers. Go drink a few beers and relax man. 1/18/2016 10:03:21 AM
Stephen Gose General Oh, by the way, when I first saw this picture, I didn't even see the comments below yet, and my first impression was how warming and picturesque this photo was. I wasn't even expecting a negative comment below. So now I'm having a couple of beers to relax and regain my initial warm feel from this photo, thanks to Gary L 1/18/2016 10:11:46 AM
