Last year the Finger Lakes railway began leasing these "bluebirds" and now regularly use them on there GS-2 train..........aka the sweep train. Here we see them descending the grade at Martisco as they work their way toward Solvay yard. As you can see they're on welded rail here; at a point not far west from here the rail is jointed all the way to Geneva. Historically speaking this is the Auburn Road, and it's one of the oldest railroads in the USA. A long time ago there used to be a branch from here to Otisco; if you look hard enough you can trace the line still to this day. |
