| Chicago & North Western Railway SD9 6605 at about Roosevelt Road and the lake front (Soldier Field in backround), Chicago, Illinois on an unknown day in September 1979, Kodachrome by Chuck Zeiler. This locomotive was on exhibit at a railroad trade show held at the site of the former IC Central Station, which had been torn down, but the platforms were still in place. I'm not sure why the C&NW was exhibiting this locomotive. Both EMD and GE exhibited their latest products, fresh off the assembly lines and polished up. There were also several railroad supply companies showing off their latest wares. The dynamic brake blister is plated over, signs of a shop modification. |
