DRGW 3011,EARLY SPRING 1994.  Contributor's Pick!
Back in the early to mid 1990's well into the Southern Pacific era,It was still possible to catch pure sets of Rio Grande power on Southern Pacific trains,Especially on local trains between Provo and Salt Lake City. Here at Provo's Backman's Crossing,Southern Pacific's ROGJM (Roper Yard-Grand Junction,CO Manifest),rolls east. The track in the foreground is Union Pacific's original Provo-Salt Lake City Mainline,Torn out in 2008 to make way for U.T.A's front runner project. Part two of this train will feature Rio Grande 3140 and 3096. I scanned this one and my upcoming second shot from kodachrome slides.
