So in doing a little research on this old photo, I was a bit surprised to find that there dont seem to any other shots of this switcher from around this era. While the colors are clearly CB&Q, the barely visible number on the cab was its BN designation (though not to be confused with the later BN76 - ex SLSF SW7 301). By the time of this photo, however, it was no longer BN, but had been in service with Dundee Cement for nearly 10 years. It would continue on as such for some 8 years more before Dundee became Holcim Cement and this loco was re-designated GNAX 1. But while it was a Dundee workhorse, there are no records that I can find pertaining to reporting marks or locomotive number. Seems that for those 18 years it was just the Dundee switcher. |
