Amtrak #4, the "Southwest Chief," loads passengers at Fullerton, California, the trains first stop after departing Los Angeles on July 27th, 2012. Lead engine 193 (a GE P42DC) is in need of a new paint job - as is the third engine, F59PHI 464. The 464, which is assigned to the "Pacific Surfliners," is heading east to Beech Grove for maintenance - all the "Pacific Surliner" power will be cycled through Beech Grove this summer. In the background, on Track 4, is Metrolink F59PH 873 on a trainset that arrived as train 643 and will depart as train 642. These trains are shuttles that operate between Fullerton and Laguna Niguel / Mission Viejo, 28 miles to the south. |
