The floods of 72 forced this LV train to detour on the EL from Scranton to Syracuse and then west on PC to Buffalo. A new crossover was installed to make these moves

Dave Abeles General Amazing stuff here! Chuck this is actually the town of Solvay, NY, west of Syracuse. 10/17/2014 2:40:17 PM
Tom Beckett General Yes, to Dave's comment, this is CP 293 now. It was CP Solvay for a time when Conrail had the line. Prior to CR, the EL-ex DLW Syracuse Branch went on to Oswego, and passed under the NYC here. That tunnel is gone, as CR didn't operate the DLW line as a through route, instead connecting here to reach either north or south from Dewitt. They sold most of the Syracuse Branch to the NYSW in 1982, keeping the line down to Jamesville, though they eventulally sold that to NYSW as well. In later years, NYSW delivered stack trains to CR here. 12/15/2022 3:23:43 AM
Chuck Edwards General Actually this is Syracuse. The Syracuse line is Willis Ave north and just about over the bridge. Anything nort of Willis Ave and east of the bridge is Syracuse. West of the bridge it's the Town of Geddes the Solvay line runs just about down industrial Parkway. I know everyone calls this general area Solvay but it's not. 12/16/2022 11:48:20 AM
