| This is the mainline departing Adelaide South Australia from the 'railfan seat' in an Adelaide Metro DMU. The tracks on the right are standard gauge and used for freight and long-distance passenger trains. We're on broad gauge; note the extra set of clips in the concrete ties for possible conversion to standard gauge (which is not an issue-yet). The signal is green; the slanting set of lights would be all white if the train was set to take the next passing siding. The grade here is about 2.2%. |
