Coach-bar-lounge 3900 was built by Budd in 1950 as Southern Pacific 48-seat divided coach 2359, with a news stand and a conductor’s desk. It was one of five such cars built for service on the SUNSET LIMITED and was renumbered T&NO 432 in 1951, and then SP 2220 in 1961. Amtrak remodeled it into coach-bar-lounge 3900 with 32 revenue seats in 1973 and renumbered it 3815 in 1976. (approximate month) |
