Cab Ride. Here is the sixth of nine successive original photos that I took while riding in the cab of a Pennsylvania Railroad passenger locomotive on 29 December 1962. Shown here are several GM-EMD "EF" Class units hauling a string of empty hopper cars at Signals #2502 and #2504 near Lilly, Pennsylvania. The unit closest to the camera is PRR engine #9555, an EF-15A built by GM-EMD as an EH-15 in January of 1949, rated at 1,500 horsepower, later regeared and reclassified as an EF-15A, and retired in May of 1965 after just 16 years of revenue service.
