Atlanta Rails General For a line thats about to be pulled up it looks like its in amazing shape, what was the reason for abandonment? 6/14/2009 4:16:55 PM
Eugene Cain General Railroads were deregulated in 1980, thus clearing the way for abandonment of questionable and unprofitable lines. However, this abandonment made no sense because there was quite a lot of through traffic running here. SCX decided they could reroute it all to the S line down the middle of Florida, and so this they did. Today, all this traffic can be seen at Folkston, Georgia on the Nahunta Sub. Great shot David!!!! 3/31/2011 12:51:22 PM

Eugene Cain General I just noticed another shack by the Signal Hut...wonder what it was used for?? You got some cool shots of these Signals here working for the last time!!! Well....I have seen Signals still lit at places where the track had been torn up...with CSX, anything is possible!!! 5/29/2012 3:38:41 PM
