Seaboard Coast Line caboose #0717 tied down on Sentell Spur |
Description: |
Sentell Spur was the usual "tie-down" location for the Lineville Road-Switcher locomotive and caboose. In previous years, a lumber mill had been located on this track which was blocked at the end by a large pile of sawdust. My grandfather, the Lineville Supervisory Agent-Operator, would get several buckets of this sawdust each spring and use it as the secret ingredient as he prepared his garden soil for planting his tomato plants !! |

Seaboard Coast Line "Fruit Growers Express" insulated box car #690521 and caboose #0717 |
Description: |
SCL #690521 was a load of beer destined for a distributor in Talladega, Alabama the following Monday. It was very, very unusual to see loaded cars on Sentell Spur due to the condition of the track. The Lineville Road-Switcher locomotives were almost never located past the point where the caboose is tied down in this photo |
