The following is excerpted from Burlington Route Historical Society's publication, Burlington Bulletin No. 17 OFFICE CARS, edited by Hol Wagner.

Second Number 94 was built in December 1915 as a Pullman 10-section / Lounge / Observation car named NORTH GATE, purchased by the CB&Q in December 1948 as 673, re# 640, converted to Office Car in September 1951 at Aurora, traded to FW&D in April 1954 and name GENERAL JOHN A. HULEN added, returned to the CB&Q in February 1962, sold to Rail Travel Association, Arlington, VA as VIRGINIA in February 1967.

Description:  Chicago Burlington & Quincy Railroad Office Car 94 at an unknown location on an unknown day in April 1965, photograpger unknown, duplicate slide by Al Chione, Chuck Zeiler collection. Number 94 ( second ) was built by Pullman in December 1915 as a 10-section/observation/lounge named NORTH GATE, acquired by the CBN&Q in December 1948, renumbered to CB&Q 640, converted to office car at Aurora, Illinois in September 1951.It was traded to the FW&D in April 1954 and named GENERAL JOHN A. HULEN, returned to the CB&Q in February 1967, and sold to Rail Travel Association, Arlington Virginia. General John A. Hulen was both a military commander and a railroad executive. He served as traffic manager ( 1920–30 ) and vice president ( 1930–41 ) of the Fort Worth and Denver Railway and as president and chairman ( 1930–41 ) of the Burlington-Rock Island and Houston Belt and Terminal railroads.

Description:  CB&Q modernized heavyweight business car #94 GENERAL JOHN A. HULEN in private ownership. Built by Pullman in December 1915 in Lot #4362 as the Plan #2521B 10 section (10S) sleeper-lounge observation NORTH GATE for the general service pool. Changed to Plan variant #2521E in October 1930 and repainted at that time from Pullman Green to MILW Maroon & Orange. Repainted back to Pullman Green in May 1934. Sold to the Burlington at the 12/31/1948 divestiture as #673 (1st), later renumbered to #640 (2nd). Withheld from lease in October 1949 and subsequently rebuilt in September 1951 to business car #94 (2nd), later to subsidiary FW&D (still as #94) on 4/28/1954, and named GENERAL JOHN A. HULEN at that time. Hulen was the first president (as of 1930) of the Burlington-Rock Island RR, a 50-50 joint-CRI&P/CB&Q (C&S)-owned company in Texas. The #94 later went back to the CB&Q in February 1967, and was sold that same month to Walter Loftin, Jr.-Rail Travel Associates in Arlington, VA. RTA planned to rename the car to VIRGINIA, but based on photographic evidence, that name was never applied. The car was later resold to LEMAC in Wildwood, FL, and later was resold again to a private owner, first in Lakeland, FL, and later in Leesburg, FL, where it was scrapped in the early 2000's.
