An Odd Couple |
Description: |
Missouri Pacific GP7 1761 was teamed up with Illinois Central Gulf GP10 8291 on a westbound MP transfer run near the east end of the Huey P. Long Bridge. In the early 1980's ICG GP10's would occasionally show up on MP transfer runs and yard jobs in the New Orleans area, but this combination of power was not very common. MP 1761 was retired six months after this photo was taken. |

MP Bicentennial Units |
Description: |
Missouri Pacific bicentennial geeps 1776 and 1976, along with MP15DC 1554, had just brought an eastbound transfer run across the HUEY P. LONG BRIDGE, and were now shoving their train into the New Orleans Public Belt Railroad's EAST BRIDGE YARD, where the cars would be picked up by the Southern Railway. The orange car on the right was the NOPB's fire car for the bridge. |

MP GP7 1785 |
Description: |
This GP7 was originally numbered 4324 and it was equipped for passenger service, so it was built with "torpedo boat" air reservoirs. It was subsequently renumbered 335 and then 1785, and along the way it received a factory low nose and a snow plow. It was photographed along the Mississippi River at RACE STREET YARD, and was retired three years later. |
