Photo Caption: "Everybody knows the Pennsylvania Railroad K-4 Pacific, one of the most prolific breeds of steam locomotive ever conceived. But with disk drivers, roller-bearing driving axles, front-end throttle, and front-end changes, the K-4sa looks different." Shown here is PRR engine #5484, a K-4SA built in Juniata as a K-4S during October of 1927, later rebuilt as a K-4SA, and retired in November of 1956 after 29 years of faithful service. The exact date and the location are not recorded. |
