ATSF 0-4-0T #9419 - Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fe
Title:  ATSF 0-4-0T #9419 - Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fe
Description:  Thanks to the research efforts of Chuck Zeiler, the online discrepancies about this loco have been resolved. This cute, small 0-4-0 tank loco built by Burnham, Wms & Co (Baldwin) in January of 1900 as a display engine #1 at the Santa Fe Terminal in San Francisco, CA. In 1912, it was renumbered ATSF 2419 and used as a shop switcher at the Needles, CA. yard. It was later rebuilt with a new boiler and renumbered ATSF 2045. On June 20, 1945, it was renumbered again as 02419 and then again on December.26, 1945 as ATSF #9419 as seen here. Finally in 1948, it was rebuilt to an 0-6-0 with a regular tender and finally renumbered #5 "Little Buttercup" for display. The rebuilt loco was eventually preserved at the History Park section of Kelley Park in San Jose, CA.Original specs - serial #17333, 0-4-0T, 51" drivers, 160 psi boiler pressure, 17x24" cylinders, modest engine weight of 100,000 lb, modest tractive effot of 18,500 lb.
