Description:
DRGW 16672 is a four-outlet hopper car, on Kansas City Southern tracks near Kingdom City, MO. I don't remember the exact date but it's probably some time in June 1999. At one time there was extensive rail operations for a gravel quarry about two miles north of here.

CIC 2089
Description:
CRANDIC (Cedar Rapids and Iowa City) Railway covered hopper 2089 on a rainy Saturday afternoon in Rock Island, IL on 12-03-2011. The lettering appears to be somewhat off-centered. This is the first time I've seen this car. The State of Iowa graphic really adds a nice touch. I don't have any idea what made the grime or grimy streaks down the side of the carbody.

Description:
JTTX 913113 was on the BNSF main line in Galesburg, IL on 12-18-2011. The "plate" info reads "Exceeds Plate F". This is clearly a flat car but I couldn't determine which type. The load appears to be some blades for wind turbines, which were becoming increasingly popular in central Illinois during the 2010-12 era. BNSF provided service to a factory of some kind near Burlington or Fort Madison, Iowa, and on one occasion, at the time, I remember seeing several "sets" of this idler-loaded-idler combination.

Description:
MTTX 98047 was on the BNSF main line in Galesburg, IL on 12-18-2011. It's used in what some call idler service, coupled between a car with an oversized load and another car. Note how part of the load on the car to the right extends past the car's edge, hence, the need for an idler or empty car like this one to provide space and safety for other cars.
