Album Info:This year for my birthday, I decided to mark off another bucket list item and head east to RJ Corman's "Cleveland Lines" and make chase to the RJCC "Warwick Turn" to CSX and back. As all trips, it didn't go 100% as planned, but it was still a great day! Enjoy!

WE 6996
Title:  WE 6996
Description:  It was my birthday today, and what better way to celebrate my birthday with a little train watching? Something that had been on my radar for quite some time was RJ Cormans "Warwick Turn" job based out of Dover, OH. Going to catch that, however, meant waking up very early to make a just over 200 mile drive east. I am no stranger to making these long days, however, so thats exactly what I did. I arrived in the Brewster area right around sunrise, and knowing that I wouldnt have to be in Dover for about another hour and a half, I decided to sit in Brewster and wait on some Wheeling traffic. It didnt take long before I heard a defect detector go off on the Rook Subdivision and my eyes were greeted to an eclectic mix of former leaser power on inbound WE 213.

Title:  WE 4018
Description:  I decided to move back into town and see if I could find a RC Job kicking some cars around. The RC stopped working on the Wheeling 4018, so they pulled this unit down to the other end of the yard to replace it with the Wheeling 4003.

WE 4001
Title:  WE 4001
Description:  I knew there was a crew heading out to Navarre to catch a "dead in the water" WE 625 later that morning, and with nothing happening on the west side of the yard, I decided to move into Navarre to see if I could find the train at a different location that I had never shot at before. Navarre hosts a pretty neat S-Curve on the west side of town so thats where I decided to set up shop. It didnt take long for the train to make its appearance. I was hoping the local would be "push-pull", but it was even worse; both on the head end, long hood forward. After starting the day so well, I assumed that everything would go exactly as I had planned the rest of the day. Apparently not. But, its what it is! After this, it was a straight shot down to Dover.

RJCR 3002
Title:  RJCR 3002
Description:  I got into Dover with enough time to get a little breakfast and gas before the chase north. While I was hoping to get one of the corporate painted engines on the front of todays train, preferably the end cab switcher, I was a little disappointed to see that one of the Lehigh Railroad Geeps would be the power for todays train. Not only that, but long hood forward... and on top of that, it would be backlit the whole chase north. Weather was calling for clouds all day, but that ended up not being the case. Well, Im no stranger to having to adjust. Not even two minutes after I filled up with gas, the train got a warrant and departed north for Warwick. I grabbed my first shot at 15th Street on the north side of town with some codeline polls still intact.

Title:  RJCR 3002
Description:  RJCR CL1, as it is symboled, passes Synergy Sign in Strasburg. In the long run, it was probably a good thing that one of the Lehigh Railroad Geeps was up front, as its sister unit, 3001 is currently in the process of being repainted into corporate RJC paint. This one is next.

RJCR 3002
Title:  RJCR 3002
Description:  CL1 crosses over the Ohio Central branch line to Brewster from Coschocton on the south side of Justus. The diamond is still activated by an ancient "tilt board" signal. It is automatically set for RJ Corman movements. Only the OHCR turns the board when they have a train that crosses through. When I was here a few years back, I was fortunate enough to see an Ohio Central train work the tilt board.

RSL 53
Title:  RSL 53
Description:  Upon arrival in Massillon, the Corman had some cars to interchange with both the Republic Short Line on the south side of town and NS on the north side of town. When I got into town I could hear the RSL working, and I tried my best to get to their yard to see if they were coming back from the NS interchange. If I would have been 30 seconds earlier, I would have had them. But, I wasnt. And on top of that, they were using their high hood geep, which made missing them sting a little more. Oh well, it happens. I was able to get a roster shot of their other engine, however.

NS 6353
Title:  NS 6353
Description:  There are a pair of CPL masts standing along the Corman south of the diamond with the Pennsy at CP MACE that I had intended on getting the train coming by. After waiting there for around an hour while they worked the RSL, I heard C67 coming into town on the Pennsy. NS crosses both OH 21 and the Tuscarawas River on a large bridge, and knowing C67 would have power on both ends, I decided to quick ditch the Corman for a shot of NS coming over the bridge. Of course, right when NS came, so did the Corman. Oh well. Ill take the bridge shot.

Title:  RJCR 3002
Description:  Then finally, just as quickly as it began, the chase ended as CSX gave the Corman almost immediate permission into the Warwick Yard. I grabbed a shot of the train coming around the corner with the Warwick Tower to the left, and began heading back west along CSX. Didnt go quite the way I had planned it to, but still, a great first chase on the Cleveland Line!

Title:  CSX 5354
Description:  Barely making it into Rittman, I grabbed CSX B158 coming east by the B&O depot. Unfortunately, it looks as if CSX is threatening to tear it down, as there is a "save the 1891 era depot" poster on the side. Hopefully the town will be able to move it and restore it.

CSX 952
Title:  CSX 952
Description:  By the time I made it to Lodi, both CSX and Wheeling were very dead. I decided that if I wanted to see a little bit more action, I should go north to the Conrail mainline at Wellington. Sure enough, there were trains running up there, but not a ton. CSX I008 was pretty much it by the time I made it there, which I grabbed coming underneath the trilight cantilever. Unfortunately, theres no saving this one...

Title:  WE 7005
Description:  After I008, CSX went dead. But, I did hear over the scanner a yard crew on the Wheeling getting permission out of Hartland to head down to West Clarksfield to pull some cars from the elevator. With nothing happening in Wellington, I decided to move west. Sure enough, a pair of tigers were doing just that. Definitely made the right choice!

SRS 131
Title:  SRS 131
Description:  I got word that Wheeling 221 and 237 were almost back to back out of Brewster, and with the sun now setting, and nothing much happening on CSX, I was thinking about heading back to Spencer for at least 237 before calling it a day. But, thats when I heard something pop up on the scanner that immediately changed the outcome of the afternoon. "SRS 131" was calling signals on the Big 4. Knowing that was a Sperry Car, I made a dart for New London. Sure enough, I was right, and I decided to finish my day off with it. W004, as it was symboled, splits the trilights at New London.
