Sierra Pacific GP40 3081 is jockeyed into position at North Yard in Denver, sometime during the first half of 1973. No, the SP is not some obscure shortline, but rather a creation of film. Concocted for the 1973 TV movie "Runaway!", D&RGW GP40 3081, along with GP30 3011 and GP35 3032, were decorated for the faux carrier. 3081 received this snazzy silver and red getup for its role. 3081 is still around, currently as part of the Helm Leasing fleet (3895). |
